Aiken Tech evacuated Wednesday

Jun. 29—An evacuation of the Aiken Technical College was ordered Wednesday around noon.

According to a Facebook post from the college: "An immediate evacuation of the campus is required. Please remain calm and leave campus in an orderly manner. Employees should telecommute for remainder for the rest of the work day. Follow instructions of emergency or college personnel and refer to local sources for more information. Please do not return to campus until you have been given the "ALL CLEAR" from Aiken Technical College."

The all clear was given at 12:55 p.m. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office confirmed there was no threat found, according to Nikasha Dicks, the director of marketing and public relations for ATC.

A Facebook post from ATC stated, "You may resume normal activities and return to campus. Employees: If you are telecommuting, you may continue to telecommute for the rest of today. Students: Evening classes will be held as scheduled."
