Air Force Planes Evacuate Florida Base as Tropical Storm Elsa Nears

Refueling aircraft based at MacDill Air Force Base near Tampa, Florida, were evacuated on July 4 “as a precaution due to the projected winds”, with Tropical Storm Elsa forecast to hit parts of the state.

The National Hurricane Center said that “storm conditions” were expected in southwestern Florida on the night of July 5 and through to July 6.
