Air raid sirens sound in Mykolaiv, explosions boom across southern city

In an early morning message to the public, city mayor Oleksandr Senkevych called on the Mykolaiv residents to stay away from their windows and balconies and to go to bomb shelter wherever possible.
In his original message, he didn’t provide any details about the explosions or their consequences.

Senkevych posted his message at 5:33 a.m. Fifteen minutes earlier, the city had been awakened by air sirens and then explosions. At 5:45 a.m. the air sirens sounded the all-clear.
Later Senkevych said Russian missiles had destroyed a furniture shop, while the blast wave from the explosion broke windows in residential buildings. Moreover, a Russian missile damaged a gas pipeline in the city, which will make living conditions in the city harder, the mayor said.
The enemy is constantly attacking the city of Mykolaiv with cruise missiles and artillery, causing problems with the water supply in the southern Ukrainian city, which was only partially restored a few days ago. However, the quality of the running water is still not good enough for drinking or cooking food.
Problems with access to running water, electricity and natural gas are been experience across eastern Ukraine, as the Russian army is concentrating a lot of its efforts on destroying critical Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
Western Kyiv had an electricity blackout several days ago, but electricians from energy company DTEK conducted rapid repairs of electricity lines and restored power.
