Air-raid warning issued in Kyiv and several Ukrainian oblasts: air defence active

Air-raid warnings were issued in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, as well as in Chernihiv and Poltava oblasts, on the evening of Sunday, 26 February.

Details: Ukrainska Pravda journalists reported hearing an explosion, which resembled the sound of an air defence system at work, in Kyiv.

As of 23:35, air-raid warnings were issued in the three Ukrainian oblasts mentioned above, and in parts of Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad oblasts. The warning is also in place in Luhansk Oblast and in Russian-occupied Crimea.

Later the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration reported that Russian air targets were spotted over the oblast.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that air defence was activated in the Brovary and Boryspil districts in Kyiv Oblast.

Air-raid warnings were also issued in Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Donetsk oblasts.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Oblast Military Administration, said that Russian forces were deploying Shahed drones to attack Chernihiv Oblast and that Ukraine’s air defence was successfully activated.

"Shahed drones [are attacking] the oblast. Be safe. Air defence is operating successfully," Chaus wrote.
