Air shows, fireworks and parades: Where to celebrate Fourth of July in San Joaquin County

The Fourth of July is fast approaching. Here's a list of events happening in San Joaquin County to celebrate the red, white and blue.

Sunday, July 3

5 p.m. Lodi's Celebrate America

Families can celebrate America at Hutchins Street Square, located at 125 S. Hutchins St. in Lodi. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy American-themed music from the Lodi Community Band, the United States Air Force Band and other local musicians. The first 500 guests will receive a free American flag.

6:30 p.m. Venice Island Patriots Jet Team Air Show

An air show by the Patriots Jet Team will kick off the evening's festivities at Venice Island. The show is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Venice Island is an island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, about fifteen kilometers northwest of Stockton. Barron Hilton and the DiNapoli family, the owners of Venice Island, have been hosting Fourth of July events at the island for over six decades.

9:30 p.m. Venice Island Fireworks Show

The long-running Venice Island fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. The display, which is produced by Fireworks America, is launched from a barge to entertain thousands of boaters who raft up near the Mandeville Cut off the Stockton Deep Water Channel. If you opt not to go by boat, organizers say the display will also be visible from various spots on the Delta, including the Delta Loop.

Monday, July 4

7 a.m. Fourth of July at Lodi Lake

Lodi Lake gates open at 7 a.m. with free admission. The event starts with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., activities and vendors throughout the park starting at noon, and a fireworks show after dark. The Lodi Lake Beach will be open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a $3 admission fee and boat rentals will be available. Visit the Headwaters Boathouse for details.

10 a.m. Tracy's Fourth of July Parade

The city of Tracy, Tracy City Center Association and Tracy Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Fourth of July parade in downtown Tracy beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will start at 10th and B streets, and end at Sixth Street and Central Avenue. The parade will feature floats and marching bands. Coffee from the Brew Life Coffee and shaved ice from Kona Ice will be on sale at Front Street Plaza at Sixth Street and Central Avenue.

10 a.m. Manteca's Fourth of July Parade

Manteca's annual Fourth of July parade will depart Golden West School on Main Street at 10 a.m., then head south down Main Street and turn west on Center Street to end at Library Park.

10 a.m. Stockton's Fourth of July Parade

The United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County is hosting a Fourth of July parade in downtown Stockton. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Weber Avenue and El Dorado Street. It will travel north on El Dorado Street, turn left onto Oak Street, turn left on Center Street, and then turn south on Center Street. There will be two grandstands — one at De Carli Plaza (Weber/El Dorado) and one in front of the Civic Auditorium. The parade is scheduled to last until 11:30 a.m.

12 p.m. Stockton's Fourth of July Festival

Gates at the Weber Point Events Center, located at 221 N Center St., will open at noon. Families are welcome to bring their children to participate in free, fun activities like bubbles, jumpers and face painting. Vendors and a variety of food trucks will be onsite. There will also be live entertainment. The Blowbacks Band is scheduled to perform from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the Nick Isaak Band from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and the Latin Magic Band from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

9:30 p.m. Tracy's Fireworks Show

The John C. Kimball High School stadium, located at 3200 Jaguar Run, will be the site of this year's fireworks show in Tracy. The gates will open at 7 p.m. for families to find their seats for the show, which is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are required for entry. Tracy Chamber of Commerce is selling tickets at $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and younger, as well as seniors. The show will include pre-fireworks entertainment from Ravioli and Sparkles, a local clown duo.

9:30 p.m. Stockton's Fireworks Show

Families are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs to the Weber Point Events Center to view Stockton's annual fireworks show. The show will begin around 9:30 p.m. and last for about 20 minutes.
