Airport staff warned pilot in fatal Tennessee helicopter crash not to fly in Smoky Mountains: NTSB

The pilot dismissed warnings about bad weather and being shown a book about crashes nearby because “those are hills” and he had “14 years of experience mountain flying,” the preliminary report said. He was seriously injured in the crash; his passenger was killed.
