Beer and honey make such a great pairing that Akron Honey is doing a takeover event for the second year at HiHO Brewing Company in Cuyahoga Falls.

The brewery will offer two honey-flavored beers but the collaboration doesn't stop there. The fun will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Feb. 8, featuring Akron Honey-inspired beers, pizza, a cocktail and more at 1707 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls.

Akron Honey owner Brent Wesley, known as Wesley the Beekeeper, said this special event, which he dubs "Akron Honey Takeover Part 2," is not to be missed.

"It was different. It wasn't just like a release of this menu, it was like a party" last year, Wesley said. "This is the most fun and delicious collab ever."

HiHO chef Dave Smith will be cooking up the special honey-flavored foods, including two types of pizza, hot Brussels sprouts and a honey-infused cinnamon roll.

The habanero hot honey pizza will include a three-cheese blend, garlic oil, caramelized onions and goat cheese, topped with Akron Honey Habanero Hot Honey. The Sauce #1 pizza will feature a three-cheese blend, chicken, pickles, toasted panko and Akron Honey Sauce #1.

Also on the menu are roasted Brussels sprouts with pancetta and pomegranates, tossed in Akron Honey's Apple Honey Vinaigrette. Topping it all off is a cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing made with Akron Honey's Apple Cinnamon Honey.

Limited honey beers will be a Bourbon Barrel Honey Touchdown Brown Ale and a Habanero Honey True Pilsner. A Hibiscus Cold Brew cocktail will feature Towpath Vodka, Akron Honey's Hibiscus Cold Brew and soda water.

The party also will include music by soul DJ Forrest Gettemgump (Forrest Webb), Akron Honey's brand DJ. For more information, see hihobrewingco.com, HiHO Brewing Company on Facebook or @hihobrewingco on Instagram.

Second collaboration was no-brainer

For HiHO — which has used Akron Honey in its kitchen and sells its jars of honey — it was a natural step to combine forces with Akron Honey when Wesley asked to do a party together last year. Co-owner Ali Hovan said customers have been asking for the Sauce #1 chicken pizza to come back since then.

Both HiHO and Akron Honey are fun, family-owned small businesses, Hovan said.

"We kind of just want to bring our brands together. We have a lot of the same customers, just because we're local small businesses. We like to do things from scratch and just really care about the local community," she said.
