Akron man arrested in Mansfield in connection with death of 13-year-old Melanie Elkins
A 30-year-old Akron man was charged last Tuesday in connection with the sudden death of 13-year-old Melanie Elkins, Akron police said.
Akron police, assisted by local law enforcement, arrested Keith Earley Tuesday afternoon in Mansfield without incident, police said in a Friday press release.

Earley, 31, is charged with abuse of a corpse, failure to report a crime, obstructing official business and a parole violation, officials said.
Melanie was found dead on June 12 just before 1 p.m. in Minordy Place, an alley in the 400 block of South Arlington Street.
Officers arrived after a person called to report finding the body at about 12:55 p.m. behind a residence.
The caller, who sounded distraught on the 4½-minute 911 recording, said the young woman appeared to be "about 19 or 20."
Police said Melanie was reported as a runaway on June 11.
Investigators said Melanie showed no apparent signs of trauma. Results are pending from the autopsy and toxicology tests, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives are working to determine the exact circumstance surrounding Melanie's death, police said.
