Akron police investigating after man found shot Friday near apartment complex

Akron police are investigating a possible homicide near an apartment complex Friday on Storer Avenue.

Police were called to the 300 block of Storer Avenue, said Capt. David Laughlin, where they found a 25-year-old man "with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds" inside a car in an apartment parking lot. Laughlin said he wasn't sure of the initial nature of the call.

The man was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General where he was pronounced dead at 9:03 p.m, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.

The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of the family, Laughlin said.

A woman who was in the car with the man was unharmed, he said.

Laughlin said officers have been interviewing witnesses, who said they saw three or four men getting into a vehicle.

It was not the only shooting in Akron this past week. Two women were injured, one critically, in a shooting Thursday in the Summit Lake neighborhood.
