CANTON – One of the two teen suspects sought for the Jan. 8 shooting death of a Canton man has been arrested, according to investigators.

Police said Craig D. Avery, 16, of Akron, was arrested on Jan. 13, according to Lt. Dennis Garren, police spokesman. Additional details of Avery's arrest were not available Friday.

The other teenage suspect, identified as Ajani A. Smith, 17, of Ninth Street SW, remains at large, Garren said.

Avery and Smith were wanted in connection with the death of Terrell Lipkins, 51.

Police said the two teens were part of several shots being fired about 12:40 a.m. Jan. 8 at Lipkins outside the man's girlfriend's home in the 3100 block of Gilbert Circle NE. Lipkins was hit in the chest and leg and pronounced dead a short time later at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital.

A few days later, murder warrants were issued for the boys' arrest.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
