Akron Zoo celebrates Tiger Day with two events including adult-only tequila tasting

The Akron Zoo plans to raise a glass and toast its tigers at a special afterhours event for adults and kid-friendly event the day before.

To mark Tiger Day, the zoo is hosting its first adults-only Tequila ‘n Tigers event from 6:30 to  9:30 p.m. July 30.

Tickets are available at https://www.akronzoo.org/tequila-n-tigers at $35 and include a trio of margaritas tastings, chips and salsa, tiger keeper talks, a tiger training demonstration and other activities.

Other drinks and food will be available including Akronym Brewery, Ciderboys, Heidelberg Distributing, Hoppin' Frog Brewing, Tramonte Distributing, Troutman Vineyards & Winery and The Winery at Wolf Creek along with food trucks from Avorrito Street Cuisine and Southern Thangs.

There will be kid-friendly activities the day before — July 29 — from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the zoo to International Tiger Day.

The zoo will celebrate its two Sumatran tigers, Eko and Diburu, with crafts, special tiger training talks and other activities.
