Al Jazeera Journalist's Funeral Procession Moves Through Jenin

The remains of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh were carried through the streets of Jenin on May 11, after she was fatally shot while reporting amid a raid by Israeli forces in the West Bank city.

Palestinian officials have blamed Israeli forces for Abu Akleh’s death, while Israel has said Palestinians “firing indiscriminately, are likely to have hit” her.

This footage shows a crowd moving through Jenin and carrying Abu Akleh’s body, wrapped in a Palestinian flag.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said that Abu Akleh and colleague Ali Al-Samudi were taken to hospital after being shot. Al-Samudi was described as in a stable condition.

The US Ambassador to Israel, Tom Nides, said on Twitter that Abu Akleh was also a US citizen, saying that he was: “Very sad to learn of the death of American and Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.” Credit: JMedia via Storyful
