Alabama Averages 1,000+ New COVID-19 Cases Over Last 3 Days

MONTGOMERY, AL — Just two weeks ago, Alabama crossed what was then a record threshold of 1,000 new COVID-19 cases in a day. That number has now become commonplace as the Alabama Department of Public Health has now confirmed the state has just seen an average of more than 1,000 new cases a day the last three days.

The three-day totals as reported by the ADPH:

  • June 23: 1,124 new cases

  • June 24: 1,010 new cases

  • June 25: 968 new cases

Total, the state has confirmed 33,717 COVID-19 cases, with 887 deaths from the virus. In the last two weeks, the state has reported 9,553 cases.

Jefferson County has seen the fastest spike in COVID-19 cases, and is quickly gaining on Montgomery to become the state's leader in overall cases of the virus. As of Friday, Jefferson County had confirmed 3,481 total cases, averaging nearly 100 new cases per day over the last week. Jefferson added 149 new cases Friday.

Counties with the most new cases added Friday:

  • Jefferson County: 149 new cases

  • Marshall County: 61 new cases

  • Tuscaloosa County: 56 new cases

  • Montgomery County: 54 new cases

  • Mobile County: 52 new cases
