After previous series where the bats were booming and the runs were coming in, the series against Georgia was a struggle at the plate for some in the Alabama lineup. On Saturday, Georgia pitcher Jonathan Cannon was perfect before he was pulled in the fifth inning, which is when Dominic Tamez was able to get Alabama's first hit of the game.

Sophomores shine in Sunday victory

In Sunday's win, sophomores Grayson Hitt and Andrew Pinckney led the way for the Crimson Tide. Hitt threw seven strikeouts and allowed only three hits and two walks through six innings.

In the third inning, Pinckney made his presence known with a laser throw from right field to third base to end the inning. In the fifth, with Alabama leading 1-0, Pinckney's two-run shot to the scoreboard extended the Crimson Tide lead to 3-0. Pinckney finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

"Everyday is a new day, after losing a couple games, we just went out there and competed," said Pinckney. "We are going out there and not trying to do to much and go out there and try to win each game."

Dominic Tamez provides a spark

A silver lining for the Alabama offense was junior catcher Dominic Tamez. Tamez had three hits Friday, one of two total Alabama hits on Saturday and one hit on Sunday, totaling a team-best six for the weekend.

"Dom has shown some life offensively. I know we have talked about it before but, he was really good all fall and in the preseason," said Alabama coach Brad Bohannon. "The way that he has played the past week and a half is what we expect out of him."
