Alabama baseball to play doubleheader at Florida on Friday, avoiding severe weather

Because thunderstorms are expected in Gainesville, Florida, on Saturday, Alabama baseball's SEC-opening series against Florida will feature a Friday doubleheader.

It will be the second doubleheader in as many weeks for the Crimson Tide (16-3, 0-1 SEC).

The first game of the doubleheader will start at 2:30 p.m. CT, with the second starting 45 minutes after the end of the first. Both games will be nine innings and will be shown on SEC Network+.

Alabama dropped the first game of the series to Florida (17-3, 1-0) on Thursday, 3-0. The Crimson Tide held the Gators to just three hits in Hagan Banks' first start of the season, but Alabama could muster only one hit.

Florida is ranked No. 4 in the USA TODAY Network coaches poll. The Crimson Tide is ranked No. 22. There are nine SEC teams in the poll, led by No. 1 LSU. SEC teams hold six of the top eight positions.
