Alabama basketball score vs. Memphis: Live updates from Coleman Coliseum

Alabama basketball enters the game Tuesday on a high point, looking to score a victory over the Memphis Tigers at Coleman Coliseum.

The Crimson Tide is fresh off beating previously No. 1 Houston on the road. The Cougars dropped to No. 5 in Monday's AP poll, and Alabama moved up to No. 4.

It's the latest win in what has been a strong run for the Crimson Tide. Alabama beat (previously No. 1) UNC as well as Michigan State and others as the season is just over a month old.

Alabama has good reason to be encouraged, but it has to be careful. Memphis could play spoiler just like it did last season. A year ago, the Crimson Tide beat two top 15 squads in Gonzaga and Houston. Then it went to Memphis and lost.

“It’s a lot easier to handle failure most of the time than it is to handle success," Alabama coach Nate Oats said Monday. "We just had some success. Are we mature enough to handle the success that we’ve had? Last year we weren’t."

Now, the game against Memphis (8-2) provides not only another chance for Alabama (8-1) to add a solid nonconference win but also show how mature Oats' group is.
