Alabama’s biggest strength heading into 2022 season

The 2021 Crimson Tide team may have lost in the national championship game, but the players on the field exceeded expectations.

After losing a quarterback, two star wide receivers, a Heisman-winner and other talented players to the NFL, many experts believed a young Alabama team wouldn’t be able to compete for a national title.

Well, they did, and now most of last season’s crew is returning.

ESPN recently listed every team’s strength from their early 2022 top-25 rankings. Alabama’s is “Pass-rushing linebackers.”

Alabama beat writer for ESPN says,

“You’ll have to keep a close eye on the quarterback when Alabama plays, and not just because the Crimson Tide return Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young, who threw for 4,872 yards and 47 touchdowns in his first season as the starter. You’ll have to watch the opposing QB carefully as well because Alabama’s defense possesses what promises to be the best pass-rush tandem in college football. On one side at outside linebacker will be Will Anderson Jr., the presumptive first-round draft pick who led the country in sacks (17.5) and tackles for loss last season (31). On the other side at outside linebacker is Dallas Turner, who came on like a rocket late last season with 5.5 sacks in the final four games, earning Freshman All-America honors.”

Will Anderson jr. was the star of the 2021 defense, and in will likely be his final collegiate season, he’s expected to somehow get even better.
