Alabama football adds Cayden Jones, 2024 four-star North Carolina linebacker

Alabama football added a commitment from four-star class of 2024 linebacker Cayden Jones on Friday.

Jones, 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, is the No. 14 linebacker in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite. The Crimson Tide beat out Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Michigan for the No. 155 recruit.

Alabama now stands at six commits. Jones is the second commit of the new year, and this week, after Pennsylvania four-star receiver Rico Scott committed on Sunday.

Jones had 50 tackles and two sacks in his junior season and has 160 tackles in his career. Alabama tight ends coach Joe Cox is Jones' primary recruiter.

Alabama offered the Christ School (NC) recruit in January after an unofficial visit on a Junior Day. He joins five-star athlete Jaylen Mbakwe, an expected cornerback, and edge Sterling Dixon on defense. Jones is the first out-of-state defensive commit.

The 2024 class is headlined by Mbakwe and five-star Julian Sayin, the No. 11 recruit and No. 2 quarterback.
