Alabama football lands Georgia LB Trezmen Marshall via transfer portal

Alabama football has now added a second player from the NCAA transfer portal this cycle.

Georgia linebacker Trezmen Marshall became the latest player to transfer to the Crimson Tide on Thursday when he announced his decision on Instagram. Marshall joins former Maryland tight end CJ Dippre as Alabama's two transfer portal additions this offseason.

Marshall has primarily been a reserve linebacker for the Bulldogs.

"I want to first thank my Heavenly Father for all the blessings He has bestowed upon me," Marshall wrote on Instagram. "Without him I am nothing. Secondly I would like to thank my support system for being there for me throughout everything. Lastly I would like to thank Coach Smart, his staff, and the entire University of Georgia for supporting me these last three years. It has been an incredible experience and I am thankful for the lifelong memories and the brotherhood I have been a part of during my time here at UGA. With that being said, I am announcing my transfer to the University of Alabama."

Marshall, a 6-foot-1, 230-pound inside linebacker, has played four seasons of college football. He's from Homerville, Georgia.

He didn't start any games in 2022 but saw 170 snaps on defense, according to Pro Football Focus. He had a sack in the Tennessee game, though, and five total pressures on the season. Marshall finished the season with 19 tackles and an interception.

Marshall will be added to the mix at inside linebacker where the Crimson Tide will have to replace Henry To'oTo'o, a two-year starter at inside linebacker who's headed to the NFL Draft.

To'oTo'o was also an inside linebacker transfer from within the SEC, but he was a starter before transferring to the Crimson Tide. Marshall has seen 210 defensive snaps over four years with the Bulldogs, per PFF.

Marshall's position coach, Glenn Schumann, wished him well after Marshall made the announcement Thursday. Schumann is a former Alabama staffer who is now Georgia's co-defensive coordinator.

"There hasn’t been a year of my life since I came to Georgia where Trezmen hasn’t been a part of it. (3 Years as a recruit/4 Years as a player)," Schumann wrote on Twitter. "Glad we got this pic Saturday. He’s going to be missed. Love you - go be great."
