Alabama football added its eighth Class of 2023 commit on Tuesday night when Pearl Community College linebacker Justin Jefferson picked Alabama

over Florida, Texas A&M, and Oregon.

Alabama offered in May before Texas A&M, Auburn, LSU, Florida and Tennessee. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Jefferson camped with the Crimson Tide two weeks later. Jefferson ran the 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds last fall.

The Memphis native and 2021 Bartlett High School graduate finished with 53 tackles, three sacks and one interception in his freshman season at Pearl.

Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding was Jefferson's primary recruiter.

Jefferson is the first linebacker commit for Alabama coach Nick Saban in this class, butthe sixth on defense. Alabama landed two secondary commits Sunday: Thompson five-star Tony Mitchell and three-star Mississippi safety Brayson Hubbard.

Alabama's class ranks No. 24 despite its small size. Four commits are in the top 100 of the 247Sports Composite, including Northridge four-star offensive tackle Wilkin Formby, who made his decision last week.
