Alabama football leaps Georgia in coaches, AP polls after Arkansas win

Neither Alabama football nor Georgia has lost a game, but the back-and-forth between the two continues in weekly college football polls.

The Crimson Tide is back at No. 1 this week in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25. Georgia moved to No. 2 in both polls.

Alabama (5-0, 2-0 SEC) is fresh off a 49-26 victory over Arkansas (3-2, 1-2 SEC). The Razorbacks dropped from No. 19 to No. 25.

The margin between the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide in the AP poll was only two points. Georgia had more first-place votes (28 to 25), but the Crimson Tide had the edge in total points (1,523 to 1,521). Ohio State was No. 3 in both polls.

The Crimson Tide was No. 1 in the first three coaches polls of the season. Georgia moved ahead after looking near unstoppable over the first three games, allowing one touchdown over that span while Alabama struggled with Texas.

Ever since Alabama moved down a spot in the coaches poll, the Crimson Tide has rolled through two SEC opponents in Vanderbilt and Arkansas. The game against the Razorbacks was competitive in the third quarter after they scored 23 unanswered, but Alabama still won by more than 20 points in the end.
