What Alabama football QB Bryce Young said in speech after winning Heisman Trophy

Bryce Young became the first Alabama quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy on Saturday.

An emotional Young spoke after accepting the award from the Heisman Trust in the Lincoln Center in New York City.

Here's what he said in his acceptance speech. (The video of his speech is at the end of the typed-out speech.)

"This is amazing. First and foremost, I'd like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Without Him, I couldn't be here. Through Him, all things are possible. I'd like to thank my dad for always being there for me. From Day 1, you've always been by my side. You've always been a supporter, more than just a father but a best friend to me. For that, I'm eternally grateful.

"My mom, for always having my back, for always supporting me. It's not always easy. I'm always running around. Not all the time do you understand, but you always had my back, you always supported me and for that I'm forever grateful. I'd like to thank the rest of my family also, everyone out there who supported me. I'm super grateful.

"I'd like to thank my teammates. My o-line, for protecting me and allowing me to win an award like this. My receivers, running backs, defense for getting me the ball back. Everyone on the team. Whenever you can win an award like this, it goes as an individual award, but it's a team award. I couldn't do it without any of those guys. I'd like to thank Coach Saban. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for your guidance, and putting me in situations to be successful, and for us and the team to be successful. It really means a lot. I'd like to thank Coach O'Brien, our offensive coordinator. He's had a lot of success in the past, and he could have came in and told me what to do and say, 'Sit down and listen.' But he always included me in decisions, always talked to me about stuff. That means a lot to me as a quarterback, and he always gave me a lot of confidence.

"I like to thank my high school coaches. Coach Rylo and Coach P. They meant a lot to me, and they believed in me, especially at a young age. I'd like to thank my city, Pasadena, for molding me into the young man I am, and for the community for always showing support. It means the world to me. I'd like to thank the 3D QB family. Taylor Kelly. for always being by my side and pushing me to be a better player and a better person. I'd like to thank Jeff Allen and his training staff. Alabama, Miss Amy and the nutrition staff. Coach Blue and Dr. E for always having my back.

"I'd like to thank the other finalists. Thank you for allowing me to share this weekend with you guys. It's been an honor to be in New York with you guys. It's meant everything.

"For me, I've always been someone who has been labeled as not the prototype. Being an African-American quarterback, being quote-end-quote undersized and not being that prototype, I've always been ruled out and counted out. People, a lot of times, have told me that I wasn't going to be able to make it. And for me, it's always been about not really proving them wrong, but proving to myself what I can accomplish. I always push myself to work the hardest, and try my best to do all I can to maximize all I can do. Thanks to the people around me, and through the grace of God, I've been able to make it here, and I'm truly grateful for that. Thank you everyone for coming out, and everyone watching at home, and have a great night."
