Alabama football receiver Tyler Harrell in walking boot at Utah State game

Alabama football isn't going to be able to see one of its recent transfers for a bit, it appears.

Receiver Tyler Harrell, who transferred from Louisville this offseason, was seen in a walking boot on the sideline during warmups of the Crimson Tide's game against Utah State. He was not in uniform.

But tight end Cameron Latu, who had been dealing with a knee injury in the preseason, was in full uniform during warmups and participating.

Harrell was not listed as one of the starters for the depth chart Alabama released ahead of the game against the Aggies. So, Alabama's starters are still intact with Traeshon Holden, Jermaine Burton and freshman Kobe Prentice.

In late August, when asked about Harrell's progress, Nick Saban said Harrell had a sprained foot for a while. "So he wasn't able to practice all the time," Saban said.

But Saban said he had gotten more reps in practice.

"I think he’s starting to get more confident," Saban said. "I do think he’s a guy that because of his speed can help us. I think he’s got to continue to make progress, and we’re certainly working with him. And he’s had a great attitude about doing it. And we’ll just sort of keep on keeping on with him."

Harrell caught 18 passes at Louisville in 2021 for 523 yards and six touchdowns. That was a whopping 29.1 yards per catch.
