Alabama football freshman receiver Aaron Anderson has entered the transfer portal, he confirmed to the Tuscaloosa News on Monday.

Anderson was the No. 4 receiver and No. 35 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

The former four-star recruit did not see much time in his freshman season after he sustained an injury early on. The only game in which he saw snaps for the Crimson Tide was the Austin Peay game when he got three, per Pro Football Focus.

Anderson had been dealing with a knee injury early in the season, per Nick Saban.

“He’s finally healthy, and you can see what his potential might be,” Saban said before the Austin Peay game. “But it’s kind of late in the season to try to get these guys involved in what’s happening.”

Anderson is the latest receiver from the Crimson Tide's roster to put his name in the portal. Sophomores JoJo Earle and Christian Leary and junior Traeshon Holden have as well.

Holden announced he will transfer to Oregon.

The portal window opened on Dec. 5. A player who enters his name into the portal does not have to transfer. He can return to his school, but putting your name in the portal allows other schools to contact you.

Of the Alabama receivers to enter their names in the portal, Holden had the most production. He caught 25 passes for 331 yards and six touchdowns this season but didn't play much down the stretch.

He was fourth among Crimson Tide pass catchers behind Ja'Corey Brooks (623), Jermaine Burton (590) and Jahmyr Gibbs (378) in receiving yards.

Alabama has only one receiver left from the 2021 and 2020 classes each in Brooks and Thaiu Jones-Bell. Four other receivers from the 2022 class are still on the roster in Shazz Preston, Kobe Prentice, Isaiah Bond and Kendrick Law, but Anderson was the highest-ranked prospect of that group.
