Alabama football's Pete Golding releases statement after DUI arrest

Alabama football defensive coordinator Pete Golding was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with DUI, Tuscaloosa County Jail inmate records showed.

Golding was arrested at 1 a.m. and booked on a $500 bond, according to the Northport Police Department. He was later released from jail.

Golding released a statement through his attorney, Jason C. Neff, on Thursday afternoon:

“I am deeply sorry for the actions that led to my arrest last night," Golding's statement read. "I sincerely apologize to my family, everyone in our organization, including our players, Coach (Nick) Saban, the staff, The University of Alabama, and our fans. Regardless of the outcome of this pending investigation, I did not uphold the values I have for myself and the values of the Alabama football program. I am committed to learning and growing from this mistake and I will work to earn back the trust of those who I have disappointed.”

UA athletics also released a statement Thursday afternoon.

"We are mindful of the seriousness of the situation and will continue to gather more information to address this personnel matter," the statement read.

Golding joined Saban's staff in 2018 and became the sole defensive coordinator in 2019 after previously sharing the duties.
