Alabama Forestry, local fire department respond to field fire in Lawrence County

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) says a field fire in Lawrence County is contained after it and local fire departments responded Friday.

According to the AFC, the field fire affected eight acres on County Road 305. The Moulton Fire Department said it is believed the fire started by someone burning leaves in the area.

The commission said forestry officials were called to the scene around 2 p.m. The AFC said when crews arrived local fire departments were already on the scene.

The fire was contained by 3:40 p.m. Friday, according to the forestry commission.
