Alabama MBB falls in Game 2 of Phil Knight Invitational to UConn

Alabama’s men’s basketball team was undefeated leading into Friday night’s game against UConn in the Phil Knight Invitational. On Thanksgiving night, the Tide knocked off Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans. However, the five-game winning streak came to an end against the Huskies on Friday night after losing by a final score of 82-67.

The first half was dominated by the Huskies. At one point, Dan Hurley’s Huskies had a 15-point lead. The Tide had 15 turnovers prior to halftime which did not help. Somehow Nate Oats’ squad found themselves down just five at the half with several key plays on both ends of the floor.

In the second half, Alabama would tie the game. Jaden Bradley led the charge offensively. The Huskies got a lot of their point production in the second half from three players: Alex Karaban, Adama Sanogo, and Jordan Hawkins. The three combined to score 47 points in Friday night’s contest.

In the end, the Tide was unable to overcome the hot shooting from their opposition. Brandon Miller led the way in scoring (19) and rebounding (9). Bradley led the way in assists (4). With the loss, Alabama will play Sunday against North Carolina at 2:30 CT on ESPN.
