A rivalry will be renewed at Rhoads Stadium, with added stakes as both Alabama softball and Auburn come into the weekend series ranked inside the top 25 and have pitchers that are top-25 finalists for USA Softball Player of the Year.

This weekend will also help dictate the conference standings with both teams tied for third with Arkansas. Friday's series opener will be Montana Fouts’ senior day.

The No. 14 Crimson Tide (33-13, 9-6 SEC) is coming off a series sweep of Mississippi State and a split doubleheader with Marshall and Liberty on Tuesday. Fouts pitched her fourth shutout in her last six SEC appearances to secure the sweep on Sunday. She has allowed seven runs on 23 hits in her last eight appearances (50 ⅔ innings).

The No. 19 Tigers (33-13, 9-6) are coming off a series win over LSU, capped off with a 1-0 win in nine innings on Sunday. Maddie Penta threw 15 ⅔ innings allowing three runs on 10 hits while adding 12 strikeouts on the weekend.
