Alabama woman dies after hitting tree next to Interstate 10 in Escambia County

A woman from Lillian, Alabama, died early Wednesday morning after losing control of her vehicle and hitting a tree off Interstate 10 in Escambia County.

Florida Highway Patrol says the 55-year-old was traveling east when she drove off I-10 around 6 a.m. in her tan pickup truck. She had just passed exit seven when she lost control of the vehicle.

"Subsequently, the tan pickup truck entered the south shoulder of the roadway and collided wit ha standing tree," an FHP report says.

FHP says medical personnel pronounced the woman dead on scene.
