How Alabama women's basketball ended a five-game losing streak with win over Auburn
Alabama women’s basketball ended a five-game losing streak with a 75-68 win at Auburn on Sunday.
Alabama held a one-point lead going into the final period after back and forth scoring over the first three quarters. Alabama went on a 7-0 run as it held Auburn scoreless for over three minutes to start to pull away.
The Crimson Tide (11-8, 2-6 SEC) was led by Brittany Davis with 24 points and eight rebounds. Khyla Wade-Warren scored 15 points. Megan Abrams returned to play with 10 points coming off the bench.
The Tigers (8-9, 0-6) were led by Alicia Coulibaly with 19 points with seven rebounds. Honesty Scott-Grayson scored 14 points. Precious Johnson had nine points and eight rebounds.

Some streaks end, others continue
Auburn's losing streak is now six games and Alabama extended its winning streak to six games over the Tigers.
Alabama had not won since beating Auburn on Jan. 2. Alabama also extended its record win streak over the in-state rival with three straight three-season sweeps.
Auburn coach Johnnie Harris is still searching for her first SEC win.
Strong defense, better shooting
Both teams shot over 40% from the field, with Alabama at 41% and Auburn at 45% in the first half. It wasn’t that they were getting easy looks, both defenses forced tough looks.
Alabama struggled near the end of the second quarter ending the half 1 for 8 from the field as Auburn went 4 for 7. Auburn took a five-point lead into the half as Alabama didn’t make a field goal over the last 3:47.
As well as the Crimson Tide shot from the field, it went 2 for 10 from 3-point range. The teams combined for 18 turnovers, seven blocks and 10 steals while forcing tough shots.
Likely star shines again
Alabama’s leading scorer showed up in a big way again as Davis also had a team-high eight rebounds. It was her second straight 20-point game.
Alabama needed Davis to have another big performance as Megan Abrams was limited in her return from COVID-19 protocols and as JaMya Mingo-Young struggled to get open looks.
"As much as I'm proud of her numbers offensively," Alabama coach Kristy Curry said. "What Brittany did defensively today was as good as I've seen ... the fourth quarter limiting Coulibaly was really special."
