Will Alabama's Bryce Young be first quarterback in NFL Draft? Latest from Mel Kiper, others

The 2023 NFL Draft is less than a month away, which means more and more mock drafts are popping up.

The biggest question is also a question related to Alabama football: In what order will the quarterbacks be selected?

Bryce Young, the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner, figures to be one of the first picked. But Ohio State's CJ Stroud could be selected ahead of him. That won't be determined until April 27.

Other quarterbacks who could be first-round picks are Florida's Anthony Richardson, Kentucky's Will Levis and potentially Tennessee's Hendon Hooker, who suffered an ACL tear from November.

Here's a look at some of the more recent projections ahead of the draft.

Then, McShay had the Indianapolis Colts trading with the Arizona Cardinals for the No. 3 pick to take Richardson. Levis isn't selected until the Tampa Bay Buccaneers trade with the New England Patriots for the No. 14 pick.

McShay also had Hooker going to the Minnesota Vikings at No. 23.

Former general manager Mike Tannenbaum put together a more unique mock draft, and he explained it's what he would do if he were making the selections. That's opposed to the approach some take in that they put together their mock drafts based on intel they've heard.

So, he had the Panthers taking Young. Stroud instead went to the Texans.

Then Tannenbaum had Levis heading to Indianapolis at No. 4 and Hooker going to the Seahawks at No. 5. Richardson doesn't appear in his mock until No. 11 to the Tennessee Titans.

Eric Edholm predicted Stroud to the Panthers in the No. 1 spot then Young to the Texans.

The Colts trade up to No. 3 for Richardson, then Levis went to the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 7.

CBS: Houston Texans (No. 2 overall)

Pete Prisco projected the Panthers will select Stroud in the No. 1 overall spot. Then Prisco had Young behind him at No. 2, calling his size a "major concern" but that the Texans want him.

Then Prisco had Richardson going to the Colts at No. 3 and Levis to the Raiders at No. 7.

ESPN: Houston Texans (No. 2 overall)

Mel Kiper wrote that there isn't a consensus top quarterback and that different teams have different quarterbacks in the No. 1 spot. Still, Kiper projected Stroud to the Panthers and Young to the Texans.

Then the Colts take Levis at No. 3 and the Seahawks select Richardson at No. 5.

The Athletic: Houston Texans (No. 2 overall)

Bruce Feldman predicted Stroud will go to the Panthers and Young will head to Houston. Meanwhile, the Colts pick Richardson in the No. 4 spot.

Levis isn't selected until No. 20, when the Titans pick him after a trade. Then the Vikings round out the quarterback selections with Hooker at No. 23.
