Alachua County Democratic Party office in Gainesville vandalized late Saturday night

Two windows at the Alachua County Democratic Party office on Northwest Eighth Avenue were broken late Saturday night, according to local party chairman Jay Maggio.

Bricks were found inside the office at 901 NW Eighth Ave., which was covered in glass, said Maggio, adding that the other tenants in the complex remained untouched.

Gainesville Police Department did not immediately respond to questions from the Gainesville Sun on Monday morning.

"Everything (in the complex) was spotless except for ours, so it feels targeted to us," Maggio said.

Silver Properties, the owner of the building, has boarded up the windows until they can be replaced.

Maggio said that he can't recall the office ever previously being vandalized and that he is considering adding security cameras.
