Balloons featuring pumpkins were still floating at Alamogordo Flower Company and Gifts' shop on Texas Avenue, even as Christmas trees, Santa Clauses and other Christmas gifts were on being arranged for display.
"Holidays are always fun, they're stressful, but they're always so much fun to send beautiful arrangements to make people smile," Alamogordo Flower Company co-owner Stacy Brabson, AIFD, CFD said.
"Mom and I share the mission of this is God's product and we put it out in the world and that's what we need to be doing. We always have lots of fun just creating our arrangements... We're so blessed here."
The shop is owned by Brabson, and her mother Margaret Brabson, AIFD, CFD. Margaret Brabson is an accredited florist by the American Institute of Floral Designers, designations awarded following a skills assessment from the American Institute of Floral Design.
The company began as home-based business in 1988. In 1991 it moved into a storefront on New York Avenue where it remained for 15 years before moving around the corner to 901 Texas Avenue, the location it has called home for the last 15 years.
Stacy has worked at Alamogordo Flower Company for 28 years.
The company does custom designs, balloon arrangements, sells plants and custom designed silk flower arrangements. In May 2021, Alamogordo Flower Company added gourmet candy to its inventory.

"(The candy business) has been growing daily," Stacy said. "It's been a real big contribution to our shop."
The gourmet candy includes truffles with names like Showgirls and Meyer lemon as well as fudges and chocolate dipped Oreo cookies. Prices range from 75 cents to $3.75 each depending on the confection.
There are also stuffed animals and, of course, flowers for sale. Two floral coolers at Alamogordo Flower Company hold individual flowers prior to arranging and completed arrangements.
Alamogordo Flower Company is the official florist for the Miss New Mexico pageant, a designation it has had for many years.
"I don't even know how many years we've been doing that," Stacy said. "It's always great to come up with something different for them to give their contestants and their winners. It's always a challenge for me to create a new look for them."
Alamogordo Flower Company is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is preparing to be open on Saturdays for the holiday season.
