The Illinois State Fair Grandstand will take on a touch of Canadian flavor this year, with Alanis Morissette coming to the fairgrounds Aug. 13 at 8 p.m. for her first-ever performance in Springfield.

Tickets go on sale Friday to the general public and Thursday morning to Main Gate Insider members and can be purchased online through Ticketmaster or through the Grandstand Box Office beginning in June via mail order, over the phone at (217) 782-1979 or in person at the fairgrounds. Prices are $98 for standing track and Tier 1 seats, $90 for Tier 2 tickets and $85 for Tier 3 access. Blue Ribbon Zone passes are available for $150, with a $30 pre-show party pass available for all seats.

Morissette is best known for her seminal 1995 album Jagged Little Pill, which broke new ground for female artists with its emotional post-grunge sound. Selling more than 16 million copies in the United States and more than 33 million worldwide, the album pushed Morissette into the mainstream.

Each of the first five singles on the album – "You Oughta Know", "Hand In My Pocket", "Ironic", "You Learn" and "Hand Over Feet" – reached the top 10 on Billboard's Pop Airplay charts, with the last three hitting number one. While she has never quite reached the commercial heights of Jagged Little Pill, her later albums Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, Under Rug Swept and Havoc and Bright Lights have each become number one albums with two others hitting the top five.

Morissette has continued to branch out stylistically in recent years, as she released an album of meditation songs last year entitled The Storm Before the Calm.

Rebecca Clark, manager of the Illinois State Fair, said that they were excited to welcome Morissette to Springfield.

"We are excited to welcome Alanis Morissette to the Illinois State Fair for the first time," Clark said. "Her album Jagged Little Pill was a defining music achievement for my generation and over 25 years later, you still hear You Oughta Know or Ironic on the radio."

Morissette joins Old Dominion (Aug. 11), REO Speedwagon (Aug. 15), Alter Bridge with Mammoth WVH (Aug. 16), Tim McGraw (Aug. 17), Maren Morris (Aug. 19) and Nelly with Ashanti and Ja Rule (Aug. 20) as acts announced for the 2023 Grandstand.
