Alaska Airlines to launch non-stop flights from SLO to Las Vegas. Here’s when

Travelers will soon be able to fly directly to Las Vegas from San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport — just in time for the holidays.

On Dec. 15, Alaska Airlines will begin offering daily nonstop airplane flights from San Luis Obispo to Las Vegas, the airport said in a news release.

Sin City is currently “one of the most popular destinations without nonstop service,” Neil Thwaites, regional vice president of California at Alaska Airlines, said in the release.

Alaska Airlines will service the new route using an Embraer E175 plane, which has 76 seats, the release said.

“The decision to introduce this service was driven by the growing demand for travel between these two destinations,” Director of Airports Courtney Johnson said in the release.

“Las Vegas has been a key market for SLO CAL for several years and this new service only amplifies that,” Visit SLO CAL President and CEO Chuck Davison said in the release. “Our region’s outdoor adventure, wine, diverse community experiences and a slower pace of life, are in great demand from Las Vegas travelers.”

2023 is expected “to be the busiest year in the airport’s history,” and passengers are recommended to arrive two hours before their flight as more travelers fill the airport, the release said.

In 2017, Alaska Airlines introduced direct flights between Seattle and San Luis Obispo. The airline eventually added flights to Portland and San Diego as well.
