Bear Brown is leaving the wild of reality TV behind.

The “Alaskan Bush People” star took to Instagram Thursday afternoon to say he will be leaving the Discovery Channel scripted reality series.

“Due to recent events and things I can’t discuss on social media, it’s with a heavy heart, I’ve decided to no longer continue filming for Alaskan Bush People!” wrote Brown. “It’s been a wild ride! God bless everyone!”

Though Brown announced his departure on April Fool’s Day, it might not be a joke.

Two days earlier he paid tribute to his recently deceased father.

“Da passed away over a month ago and it still feels like yesterday!” he captioned a photo of himself, dad Billy Brown, and brother Gabe Brown, posted Tuesday. “I miss him so much! I found this old picture and wanted to post it! I can honestly say, my Dad never let me down, not once! I love and miss him!”

Patriarch Billy Brown died in early February “after suffering from a seizure,” Bear Brown announced at the time. He was 68.
