Albemarle Corporation building facility in Chester County, bringing over 300 jobs
Albemarle Corporation is expanding even more operations in the Carolinas, announcing a new facility in Chester County, South Carolina, that’s expected to bring hundreds of jobs.
Albemarle deals in resources that are needed for lithium-ion batteries, and it recently announced a big research and development facility coming to Charlotte.

On Wednesday, Albemarle said there are now plans to build a “state-of-the-art ‘Mega-Flex’ lithium hydroxide processing facility” to Chester County. It’s going in at an 800-acre site near Richburg.
The “Mega-Flex” facility will be able to process about 50,000 metric tons of battery-grade lithium hydroxide, with the potential to reach up to 100,000 metric tons. It can also work with multiple sources, including lithium from recycled batteries, according to Albemarle.
With the facility, Albemarle Corporation says it will create more than 300 jobs. You can find job openings at this link.
According to South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster’s Office, Albemarle Corporation is getting job development credits, and Chester County is getting $9 million in a Rural Infrastructure Fund grant to help with site preparation and improvements. Albemarle Corporation is spending over a billion dollars on the project.
