Albertville police arrest man for allegedly shooting his brother

A 32-year-old Guntersville man faces an aggravated assault charge in connection with the shooting of his brother Sept. 10 in Albertville, according to Albertville Assistant Police Chief John Amos.

Waldemar Martinez was arrested after the shooting and later was charged with aggravated assault-family. He has been released from the Marshall County Jail on $2,500 bond.

Police were called to an apartment complex in the 2000 block of Alabama Highway 205 North and learned that a 27-year-old man had been shot. Family members had taken him to Marshall Medical Center South by the time police arrived.

While officers from the Albertville and Boaz police departments were talking to the victim at the hospital, Martinez — identified as a suspect — came to the hospital parking lot. where he was arrested. According to Amos, initial investigation indicated there was an argument and it led to the shooting.

Keven Jomar Martizez suffered a gunshot wound to the lower torso, Amos said, and is expected to make a full recovery.
