Albright College and Kutztown University named top regional colleges by the Princeton Review

Sep. 9—Two Berks County colleges have been recognized as top schools by the Princeton Review.

Albright College and Kutztown University have been included in a list of top regional colleges in the Northeast.

The Princeton Review is an education services company that regularly puts out lists of top colleges. The Review recently released its 30th edition of its best colleges guide.

Schools are chosen for the guide based on surveys of students currently attending the colleges. The new 2022 edition also uses data from past lists because many colleges had limited in-person experiences last school year during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Review provides several different lists of top colleges in categories including for best financial aid, professors, career services, health services and classroom experience.

The lists do not rank the schools included in each category.

The Review listed a total of 223 top colleges in the Northeast region. Fifty-three Pennsylvania schools made the list.

For Kutztown, it is the 19th straight year the university was named a top college in the Northeast region. Albright has been on the list in 17 of the last 18 years.

Some highlights from what students told the Review about Albright include:

— That professors are "extremely passionate about what they teach," and that it is obvious that they truly "care about their students."

— That the school is known for offering wide variety of experiential internship and study abroad opportunities. More than half of Albright's students cross or combine majors to create individualized academic programs, without taking longer to graduate.

— That the college's student body is "welcoming," "engaged" and "creative," and comes from "all walks of life, all levels of economic status and a variety of different political and social views."

Students at Kutztown told the Review that:

— The school is inexpensive but also expanding. It offers both quality liberal arts and hard sciences programs.

— The student body is diverse who "all get along because we respect each other and always learn something new about other people. It's more fun when everyone is different."

— The school's location near several large cities means there's plenty for students to do when no in class.
