A feud between Mohamed and Devin Cameron over access to land for hunting led to a fistfight between the men Saturday evening at a fishing access area in Alburgh, police said Monday. After the fight, Devin Cameron and Larry Cameron traveled to Larry Cameron’s nearby home. Mohamed arrived a shot time later, accompanied by two friends in a separate vehicle, police said.

Larry Cameron came out of the garage and fired multiple shots from a handgun into the air to try to get Mohamed, who was sitting in his pickup truck, to leave, police said. Devin Cameron, who was unarmed, stood by Larry Cameron next to the the driver’s door of Mohamed’s pickup truck, police said.

Mohamed then pulled out a rifle and there was a struggle over the firearm, police said. The armed men exchanged gunfire. Mohamed was hit multiple times by rounds from the handgun and Larry Cameron was hit once by a rifle round, police said. Devin Cameron had multiple gunshot wounds and remains hospitalized, police said.

The investigation is continuing, police said. The Grand Isle County state’s attorney will review the completed investigation to determine if any changes will be filed.
