Alcohol, drugs not suspected in Johnston County crash that killed 4 teens

RALEIGH, N.C.(WNCN) — One week after four teenagers were killed in a Johnston County crash, a new state highway patrol report shows troopers did not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved.

The driver of the fatal wreck was identified as 17-year-old Alan Lee Lockamy. Freddy Seras, 17, was a passenger in the front seat while Semaj Lejai Williams, 16, and Christopher Wayne Jackson, 17, were in the back seat, troopers said.

According to a North Carolina State Highway Patrol report, Lockamy was driving in a ‘careless and reckless manner’ ahead of the crash that shut down a portion of I-95 northbound near Brogden Road. The report said he was driving 100 miles per hour as he attempted to exit a ramp.

Lockamy’s Kia Soul continued at an estimated 100 miles per hour when it collided with a tree and came to a stop.

According to the report, alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be involved. No tests for drugs or alcohol were given.

The report notes that while Lockamy was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, none of the three passengers were wearing theirs. Williams and Jackson were ejected from the car during the crash.

According to NCSHP, a trooper clocked Lockamy traveling at 104 miles per hour. The trooper, who had been in the median, attempted to catch up with the speeding vehicle but had not initiated a traffic stop or pursuit, NCSHP said.
