New Aldi expected to open in Miami Twp. sometime next year, officials say

Aldi, the German discount supermarket chain, is adding to its line of Greater Cincinnati locations with a store in Miami Township.

The grocery store is currently under construction and will anchor a commercial development at 1155 State Route 28, officials with the township said in a release Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say the 25,000-square-foot grocery store will sit on a five-acre property, which will also include space in front of the store for a future restaurant.

The site is across the highway from a Kohl's department store and next to a Christ Hospital office building.

Miami Township partnered with the Nashville-based developer Baker Storey McDonald Properties and the Sycamore Township-based OnSite Retail Group for transportation improvements, officials said.

The Aldi store will be accessible through a new public street via a traffic signal, which will allow traffic from the medical office and a nearby residential neighborhood to gain access to the traffic signal on State Route 28, the release states.

Existing drives along State Route 28 will be altered to reduce left turns into and out of the office and neighborhood, officials said.

"The Township is not only excited about a multi-million-dollar retail development occurring in our community to offer residents additional choices, but we look forward to bringing a safer situation to our adjacent residents and the motoring public," Miami Township Administrator Jeff Wright said in a statement.

Aldi operates roughly 20 locations in Greater Cincinnati. The Miami Township location is expected to open in 2024.
