Alec Baldwin’s latest role appears to be fronting a video selling his own home.

The 65-year-old star, who has admitted finding work hard to come by after being involved in a fatal onset shooting in 2021, is deploying his skills to help shift the five-bedroom nine-bathroom property in the Hamptons on Long Island.

Baldwin, who once played a fast-talking foul-mouthed estate agent in Glengarry Glen Ross, has stepped in as the value of the mansion has dropped.

Originally listed at $29 million (£23 million) in September 2022, the asking price has since fallen to $19 million.

Complete with a swimming pool, a private cinema, a wine-tasting room and a wood-panelled library, the property is described as “an impeccable retreat.”

In the video posted by estate agents Saunders & Associates, Baldwin walks slowly across surrounding farmland and the beach reminiscing about his time on Long Island.

“Hey, I’m Alec Baldwin,” he says.

“I’ve had a home out here on the east end of Long Island since 1982.

“When I was younger, we’d come out here and we’d sleep all morning and lay on the beach all day. When you’re young, this place is the best.”

At first, he rented for five years.

“After that, I decided to buy my own place,” Baldwin says.

“I fell in love with this place the moment I came here,” he adds.

“I have always loved it here. It’s a low-density area, I love coming here.”

Extolling the virtues of the 10-acre plot and the 10,000 sq ft house, which he bought in 1995 and expanded, he tells prospective buyers: “You just can’t get this out here, you can’t buy big pieces of land, especially in Amagansett.”

No reason has been given for the sale, but Baldwin has made little secret of the damage done to his career by the accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while filming Rust in New Mexico.

She died after a gun he was holding went off. Baldwin believed the pistol, which was being used in the western, was loaded with blanks rather than live ammunition.

Criminal charges against the actor were dropped by New Mexico prosecutors last April.

But in the wake of the controversy, Baldwin was dropped from several productions.

One was a lead in a spy thriller, Chief of Station.

“I got fired from another job yesterday,” he told CNN in an interview in August 2022. It was one of five roles he lost following the Rust shooting.

“There I was all set to go to a movie, jump on a plane.… I’ve been talking with these guys for months and they told me yesterday, ‘We don’t want to do the film with you because of this,’” Baldwin said.

Baldwin, who had enjoyed major roles in Beetlejuice and The Hunt for Red October, sold a lake house in upstate New York for $530,000 in July 2022, according to records seen by the New York Post.

In February of the same year, he and his family bought a 55-acre farm in Vermont for $1.7 million.
