Alex Morgan Out for Rest of Season Due to Injury Sustained During the Women's World Cup

The hero of the Women’s World Cup, Alex Morgan, is regretfully breaking the hearts of fans of the Orlando Pride after she was ruled out for the remaining 2019 season.

Morgan took to Instagram and shared her disappointment:

“This year has had the highest of highs but along with that comes challenges and sometimes even falling short of my goals I set for myself in 2019,” Morgan started her statement.

She continued,

“I’m disappointed I won’t be able to compete with the Pride for the remainder of 2019 due to a knee injury I’ve been managing since the World Cup.”

Morgan played a huge role in the tournament and took home the Silver Boot for being the second highest scorer behind her team mate, Megan Rapinoe.

She ended her statement by thanking her fans and giving a small health update.

“Thank you fans, friends, teammates, and teams for all your support. I have already started physical therapy in LA and am eager to get back on the field doing what I love."

Perhaps one of the most memorable things to come out of the World Cup was how the US team celebrated after securing the victory.

Rapinoe was equally as excited after the hard fought victory and was showered with confetti and champagne.

Also, do not forget about their bikini pool party celebration.
