It is Day 19 of the Alex Murdaugh trial with court beginning at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16.
The double homicide trial of Murdaugh started Monday, Jan. 23, with the selection of the jury that would decide his fate in the deaths of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, in June 2021. The start of a saga that has made headlines across the nation and has become a true crime phenomenon.
Day 18 of the trial brought forth a video interview between SLED agents and Murdaugh from early in the investigation.
“Did you kill Maggie?” Senior Special Agent David Owen bluntly asked Murdaugh during this interview, before telling him that he was the only murder suspect in SLED’s circle of investigation. “Did you kill Paul? Do you know who did?”
“You are still in this … with everything we talked about, the family guns being used, the ammunition (matching)…”
In questioning by Assistant Attorney General John Meadors, Owen revealed that a pattern of “inconsistencies” in Murdaugh’s statements, along with key items of evidence, led SLED to zero in on Murdaugh as their one and only suspect by August 2021.
Testimony from witnesses for the state continues on Day 19.

Tuesday brings emotional testimony from Maggie Murdaugh's family
On Tuesday, family members of slain mother Maggie Murdaugh gave emotional and revealing testimony in the Richard “Alex” Murdaugh double murder trial.
This is a continuation from the start of week four of the double murder trial, when the state started Monday morning session off with scientific DNA testimony, followed by graphic and chilling testimony from the forensic pathologist who autopsied the bodies of Maggie and Paul Murduagh.

What is Alex Murdaugh accused of?
Besides facing murder charges in the deaths of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh, the former attorney faces more than 100 other criminal charges ranging from murder to tax evasion. There are also multiple lawsuits ongoing connected to Murdaugh and others associated with him.
