Alex Rider has been renewed for a second season, with production set to kick off later this year.

Based on the books by Anthony Horowitz, the series follows the London-based titular spy (played by Otto Farrant) as he throws himself into the world of international espionage – something he has been unknowingly training to do since he was a youngster.

Line of Duty's Vicky McClure and Game of Thrones' Brenock O'Connor and Stephen Dillane appeared alongside Farrant in the first season, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video in the UK on June 4 and is about to launch on IMDb TV in the US.

The first instalment, which consists of eight episodes, concluded with Alex stopping his wayward clone from wreaking havoc, vowing to give up the secret agent life and go back to being a typical teenager.

However, when it came to Dillane's Department of Special Operations head Alan Blunt, it appeared he had further plans for his latest protégé.

Alex Rider launches on IMDb TV in the US on Friday (November 13), while the show is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
