Alexander McQueen Returns To London Fashion Week With One Magical Show

It’s been 14 years since the Alexander McQueen label last showed at London Fashion Week and tonight the high-end brand made a hotly-anticipated to our capital for one season only.

The British brand, which we all know was the label behind the Duchess of Cambridge’s iconic lace wedding dress, returned to its roots after showing in Paris since 2002 and debuted a stunning AW16 collection in Lawrence Hall, London.

The brand stayed true to everything it’s famed for: it was all a little dark and dramatic, dresses were so intricately embroidered that it’s a wonder models got into them without the fabric tearing and the attention to detail was breathtaking - even the models’ hair was filled with a fusion of beautiful jewels, charms and chains.

The show, like so many big-name brands these days, steered clear of using models-of-the-minute and instead hosted an intimate affair - which the whole world was invited to watch online live, through the Alexander McQueen website.

In a nutshell, Sarah Burton’s show didn’t disappoint. Inspired by butterflies, each look was more delicate - and divine - than the last.

Sheer and embellished dresses floated down the catwalk and duvet-esque outerwear had us longing for next winter - and colder weather.

Not all of the looks were all that wearable (despite this being a ready-to-wear show, not a haute couture one), but pushing the boundaries is what the Alexander McQueen label has always been known for.
