Alexander Skarsgård has revealed he found Infinity Pool's nude scenes "really fun" to film.

The much-talked-about sci-fi horror movie sees the Succession actor play a struggling writer named James, whose holiday with his wife Em is wrecked by a mysterious stranger (played by Mia Goth).

One particular moment of note involves James naked while on a leash, and speaking to SFX Magazine, Skarsgård was asked whether it was tricky giving himself over to a scene like that.

"I find it quite cathartic," he admitted. "It's really fun. Sometimes, but not too often, I run around naked with a leather collar and a leash on, so it's just a great opportunity to do a bit more of that!

"And also to explore some darker sides of my personality. It was a very pleasant experience."

Speaking further about what attracted him to the horror genre, the actor explained: "I feel like a lot of projects and a lot of scripts I get sent are basically written by focus groups.

"It's all about blunting the sharp edges, staying very middle of the road, playing it very safe. Movies have to be palatable for everyone. So projects that are a bit more anarchistic excite me because they have a bit more of a unique tone."

Earlier this year, director Brandon Cronenberg spoke about censorship, especially in the wake of Infinity Pool having some NSFW scenes cut for its theatrical release, revealing that he hopes for an unrated cut to be included in its home release.

"I never do [censor myself], because it will be seen," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

"There is a plan for it [the unrated cut]. I don't know where we've landed with it but I know there is something in the works."

Infinity Pool is available to buy and rent on digital now.
