Alexandria public library receives Meta community action grant

Meta New Albany Data Center has announced its 2023 Meta Data Center Community Action Grants recipients, with 12 grants to local schools and nonprofits. This grant is used to address needs in the Franklin and Licking county districts through the power of technology. The data center has put in a strong effort to invest in communities.

“One of the ways we do this is through the Meta Data Center Community Action Grants program, where we support projects that put the power of technology to use for community benefit, connect people online or off, improve STEM education and have a demonstrable impact on the community.” said community development manager, Chris Suel.

One recipient of the community action grant is the Alexandria Public Library, receiving $24,960 in grant funding to support their community STEAM programs.

STEAM refers to science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

Additionally, the grant allows the library to extend its after school robotics program. The library will offer patrons of all age’s programs challenging them to develop and design projects using 3-D printers and the Cricut™. Preschool children can create using magnetic blocks, light-up geometry shapes, and engineer a coaster.

“We are grateful for this opportunity to serve our library patrons and thankful to Meta for their community involvement.” said the Director of Alexandria Public Library, Carrie Strong.

Other grant recipients include:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters

  • Girl Scouts of Ohio Heartland

  • I Know I Can
