Alexis Skyy Talks Surgery Scare, Faith and Motherhood

Alexis Skyy first gained recognition from her public relationship with rapper Fetty Wap and as a cast member on the popular reality TV show “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood.” Since then she has faced her fair share of challenges and personal struggles while basking in the spotlight. The pressures of fame, alcoholism, motherhood, and reality television’s demands all took their toll on Alexis Skyy. However, a recent surgery scare prompted her to embark on a journey of faith. 

‘I’ve Always Prayed’

The former reality star sat down with Mind Blowing Magazine and tackled several different topics. The single mother says she was was raised in a strict Jamaican household where God was at the forefront.

“My grandma always kept us in the church.” “I came from a good family, but they were just strict,” she laughed.

Although immersed in a Christian-driven world, Alexis Skyy had to build a relationship with God on “her own time.”

“I always believed in God, but I knew God was real when I had my daughter at five months,” she said. “The doctors were like, ‘she wasn’t going to walk, and she wasn’t going to do this’…like you know what doctors typically say.”

Skyy confessed she lived in fear after that diagnosis. But one day, she proclaimed her daughter would walk.

“I just kept praying and praying. And was like God, please put your hands on her…and she walked,” she said proudly. 

According to Metro, Alexis Skyy’s daughter, Alaiya Grace, was born prematurely in January 2018 and diagnosed with hydrocephalus. Her daughter’s milestones taught the young mother about the power of manifestation and leaving her worries to God.

“I’m thankful for how much strength she has. As a little girl at five years old, she’s a walking testimony.”

God Said ‘I’m Going to Show You’

Skyy says four months ago she began a transformation that was sparked by a surgery scare following a cosmetic procedure. Skyy says prior to the surgery she was drinking heavily.

“I was at this recovery house and my blood level just kept going up and down, and I knew that was God telling me not to get the surgery,” she said. “There were so many complications going on and at that moment, He was there.”

She was able to pull through surgery, but she explains how God started making changes in her life after that moment.

“He [God] was like, go ahead and have your surgery, but I am going to show you,” Skyy said.

After recovering, Skyy stopped drinking saying she came to the realization that she was addicted to alcohol. She says her toxic relationships with men fueled her alcoholism.

“Men were my downfall,” she told the interviewer. “I was always having issues with my relationships and not being treated right.”

“I had everything in this world – the bag, the shoes, the cars – and I was like an empty soul. I would wake up miserable…angry at the world. I was just always angry, and nothing around me was blossoming. Everything around me was dead…businesses, relationships with my family…it was just always confusion,” she admits.

Skyy says her fear of being “poor” made transforming hard initially. She felt the money she was making from sources such as OnlyFans was “dirty money.” The mother admits that her earnings have slowed since deciding to make changes to her lifestyle telling Mind Blowing Magazine that she hasn’t made any money in the last four months.

“Thank God, I saved my money,” she said. “Now, I am investing that money and turning it into clean money. I have a Christian clothing brand I am about to launch. I have a journal, a prayer journal. I’m turning my pain into purpose now.”

Full-time Mommy Mode

Skyy says her relationship with her daughter has also transformed. Before, she designated designated Mondays through Thursdays for the child. Then would spend weekends making club appearances or filming for different projects.

“I no longer do a lot of things, and I’m about to be a full-time mom.”

She is excited to have Alaiya Grace seven days a week and is currently working on getting her daughter a passport for future mommy-and-daughter trips. Although, the transition has made Skyy question how she will make money at times, she says she is now at peace.
